The work breakdown structure is one of these tools helping to identify the individual tasks in a project. Nevertheless building a WBS seems to be one of the most difficult tasks students have to cope with.

Here is a procedure – easy to follow by the project team:

1. Brainstorm all the tasks that need to be done in your project; that means listing all the major deliverables. Each work package must be named as an activity that generates a product.
2. Write the tasks down on Post-it notes and attach them to a pin board.
3. Finally arrange the Post-it notes around the main areas of activities and put them into a diagram.
